Will Texaco Capella Refrigeration Oil be still in the lubrication market in 2015?
Will the refrigeration market experience the same situation as with the Shell Clavus refrigeration oils and force users to look for alternatives for lubrication of the compressors?
Based on the latest developments and previous experience such as worldwide ending the production of Shell Clavus 68 seems that the market will be forced to look for alternatives. It could be presumed that the well-known Chevron/Texaco Capella will go in the same direction.
Since March 2012 the Russia’s Gazprom Neft Lubricants and U.S. Chevron have signed a license agreement to produce marine engine oils, which will allow Gazprom Neft’s subsidiary to become a supplier of a wide range of lubricants, including hydraulic, compressor, turbine, cooling fluids, and specialized lubricants for marine and river transport. Chevron is a global leader in the research development of lubricants for all systems of marine and river vessels. One of the most common lubricants used in the refrigeration industry is the Capella brand. However at this moment it is unknown if Gasprom Neft Lubricants intends to keep the production of whole range of Capella.
